Team Group CX2 Classic SSD Review

SSD is a type of storage with better read and write speeds, even compared to the fastest HDD (Hard Disk Drive) type of storage. For this reason, it is better for now, that people should start using SSDs instead of HDDs. SSD itself has many types. The various types of SSDs also affect their speed.

However, whatever type of SSD, the speed is always better than even an HDD which is claimed to be faster. One type of SSD worth choosing is the Team Group CX2 Classic. This SSD offers capable performance even though it is only a SATA SSD type.

Next, let's discuss the Team Group CX2 Classic SSD below.

Packaging Contents

Let's first examine the packaging of the Team Group CX2 Classic. Actually, there is nothing special about the contents of this packaging. This SSD comes with a green and white box that says information about this SSD. The SSD we tested has a capacity of 512 GB.

Above the capacity information, there is information that confirms that this SSD has a 3-year guarantee. The warranty period is relatively long and should be appreciated. Meanwhile, other information on the box is a description of the shape of the SSD, and SSD features such as 3D Nand, 6GB/s, and SLC Caching.

Inside the SSD packaging, it turns out that the SSD has a smaller size. There is a plastic SSD support whose size resembles the SSD sales box. In the box, there are also instructions for this SSD.

Design

This SSD comes with a simple silver design. The shape is relatively simple but quite firm. However, when compared to SSDs in its price class, this SSD has an attractive color design and quite stands out. Therefore, it would be more interesting if this SSD was used on a PC.

This SSD measures 2.5 inches with a length of 100 mm, a width of 69.9 mm, and a thickness of 7 mm. The design of this SSD looks simple and is relatively light.

Even though it is light, the Team Group CX2 Classic has the ability to withstand shocks. This SSD is also considered safe if it falls. When dropped, this SSD does not make annoying mechanical sounds. It can also effectively avoid computer crashes when the computer is accidentally shaken.

Feature

Apart from durability, the Team Group CX2 Classic has other features. Examples are Wear-Leveling Technology and the ECC (Error Correction Code) function. With this technology, there is the ability to increase the reliability of data transfer and extend the life of SSDs.

There is also an SLC Caching technology feature. This SLC Caching algorithm will make read and write speeds easier and 4 times faster than traditional HDDs. The CX2 also uses features such as FLASH technology, low power consumption, and high-speed transfer. It is the best choice to replace HDD.

Performance

Next, we tested the performance of this SSD. Here we get good performance in running applications and games. We also have faster Windows booting. Windows OS opens immediately in just approximately 4 seconds.

We then use Crystal Disk Info to view information related to this SSD. This information can be seen in the image below.

It can be seen from the picture that the SSD we tested was indeed a Team Group product with a capacity of 512 GB. There is also information about this SSD interface, namely SATA, with SATA/600 transfer mode.

From this information, it is also known that this SSD supports the S.M.A.R.T feature. In simpler language, S.M.A.R.T is a feature for monitoring, detecting, and reporting various storage problems. This feature is actually quite common for storage.

This SSD also supports TRIM and NCQ features. The TRIM feature is an optimization feature to use empty blocks when the system writes DATA. Meanwhile, the NCQ feature functions to speed up read and write performance, and effectively extend the life of the SSD.

For your information, SSD is a type of storage that has a usage limit. This usage limit is marked with TBW (TeraByte Written) SSD.

TBW means that the more data you write, the shorter the lifespan of the SSD. For example, if an SSD holds 10 GB of data, then the SSD has a TBW of 10 GB. If TBW SSD is reached, the SSD cannot write data but it is still possible to read data. Generally, SSD TBW is relatively long. Usually up to 5 years or even more. Team Group CX2 Classic itself has a TBW of up to 400 TB.

Next, let's discuss the performance of the Team Group CX2 Classic. On the official website, the Team Group CX2 Classic is claimed to have a read speed of 530 MB/s and a write speed of 470 MB/s.

Out of curiosity, we tested the reading speed of the Team Group CX2 Classic using Crystal Disk Mark version 8. The results can be seen in the following image.

It can be seen from the data above that the Team Group CX2 Classic has a read speed of 556 MB/s and a write speed of 486 MB/s. Higher than the results shown on the official website. Crystal Disk Mark We also tested the read and write speed of this SSD using other benchmarks. We used AS SSD Benchmark 2 to see the read and write speeds of the Team Group CX2 Classic. The results can be seen below.

The results obtained are not much different from CrystalDiskMark. In general testing, it appears that the read speed of this SSD reaches 514 MB/s for read speed and 450 MB/s for write speed.

We also tested data transfer or file copy tests using the AS SSD Copy Benchmark. Here are the results.

It can be seen that this SSD is capable of handling data transfer at a speed of 449.06 MB/s in 2.39 seconds for ISO type files. Information is also visible about the speed of moving data for program file types and game file types.

We also tested this SSD compression test using the AS SSD Compression benchmark. Here are the results.

It can be seen from the information above that this SSD has a read speed that tends to be stable. Unfortunately, writing speed tends to fluctuate.

Conclusion

The Team Group CX2 Classic can be said to be an attractive SSD for its price class. This SSD has pretty good features, in fact, if we compare it with our SSD of the same type from other brands, the read and write speed of the Team Group CX2 Classic is better.

We can conclude that this SSD has several advantages. These advantages include:
1. Attractive and bold design
2. Fall Safety Features
3. Performance is okay in its price class.
4. High TBW for 512 GB capacity.

As for shortcomings, there is only one that we think is a weakness. The shortcomings can be seen in the compression benchmark results. The results show that the written test is less stable. However, this is clearly not a big problem.

With a price tag of around 20 - 30 US dollars, the Team Group CX2 Classic is an attractive SSD and definitely worth a look. If you are confused about finding the best SSD to replace your HDD at an affordable price and with a long service life, you should choose the Team Group CX2 Classic.
